Gotta love it.

I really don't know why i have this blog anymore. I originally got it so keep up with mik and mag when they went to russia...but now they're back....and i still have it.... hoping everytime i pull it up that someone has comented or at least updated heir blogs so i'll have something to read. Usually, those hopes are crushed. But I now have found another reason for this blog. I have a hour between all my classes so I usually go sit in the library on a computer. By updating it looks like i'm actually doing something, like maybe i'm studying or doing research for some paper instead of my usual purusing of facebook. So to update on life. School is school, work is work. I'm most likely moving back to St. George in December to be with Brandon. Pretty much the end. I still really want to get my aestheticians license and i guess two new schools have opened in St. George. The taylor andrews one and some other one. If by chance anyone hears amything about them let me know! Soon to come: pics of the missy higgins concert we're going to tonight!

To Europe and back!

I have now officially been out of the country! Yay for me. I just returned from a two week tour of the British Isles. It was definately and experience. We flew into Shannon, Ireland and then procedded on to Wales, Scotland, and England in that order. I didn't really care for Ireland but i loved the rest of them! I went with a tour group of 53 people. 98 percent of which were over the age of 60.... we had to make a lot of bathroom stops. But overall it was fun. I saw a lot of things and made some new friends. Some of the things i saw were...

1) lots and lots of cathedrals and old churches
2) the smallest house in the world
3) lots of castles and ruins, including edward longshanks castle
4)Blarney castle where i kissed the blarney stone
5) Windsor castle
6)went on the london eye
7)westminister abbey
8)buckingham palace
9)the trooping of the colors in london, (that's the parade they do for the queens birthday)
10) Glastonbury Abbey (the supposed grave of king arthur)
11) Stone Henge
12) one of the original copies of the magna carta
13) the street in bath where jane austin lived
14) the roman bath in bath
and much much more.
I also learned the people who reside in the UK are a little different from us. For instance they don't believe in having clocks in hotel rooms...or really anywhere else. And since i didn't have a watch on me i never knew what time it was the whole trip. All there clocks are in military time too so even if i could look at one it wouldn't really help me. Also they don't believe in sugar...or salt. They're food in general is pretty good but often bland. and they're pasteries and sweets aren't really...well sweet. They usually don't have salt or pepper on the table and when we asked for ketchup to put on our fries they looked at us like we were sinning. Their bathrooms are usually much nicer than ours. They call chips crisps and fries chips. I actually liked driving on the left side of the road. It didn't bother me at all. I think i actually like it better....Weird i know. Their toilets don't always flush either. That was a pretty consistent and annoying thing. Everyone smokes. My throat hurt the whole time i was over there. But overall i was glad i went and it feels weird being home. I can't wait to go somewhere else like Italy or Spain! I would gladly accept donations. Just look at it as helping a young woman culture herself so she can become a better person and make her more capable to help others. ;)

My Personality

You Are The Inspirer

You love being around people, and you are deeply committed to your friends. You are also unconventional, irreverent, and unimpressed by authority and rules.Incredibly perceptive, you can usually sense if someone has hidden motives. You use lots of colorful language and expressions. You're quite the storyteller! In love, you are quite the charmer. And you are definitely willing to risk your heart. You often don't follow through with your flirting or professed feelings. And you do break a lot of hearts. At work, you are driven but not a workaholic. You just always seem to enjoy what you do.You would make an excellent entrepreneur, politician, or journalist. How you see yourself: compassionate, unselfish, and understandingWhen other people don't get you, they see you as: gushy, emotional, and unfocused

The Guesthouse by Rumi
The GuesthouseThis being human is a guesthouseEvery morning a new arrivalA joy, a depression, a meannessSome momentary awarenessComes as an unexpected visitorWelcome and entertain them all!Even if they're a crowd of sorrowsWho violently sweep your houseEmpty of its furnitureStill treat each guest honorablyHe may be cleaning you outFor some new delight! The dark thought, the shame, the maliceMeet them at the door laughingAnd invite them inBe grateful for whoever comesBecause each has been sentAs a guide from the beyond

Translated by Coleman BarksRumi (Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi) was a 13th century Persian muslim poet, jurist, and theologian. His name literally means "Majesty of Religion". He was born in Balkh (now part of Afghanistan) and died in present-day Turkey. His works are widely read in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and are in translation in Turkey, Azerbaijan, the U.S., and South Asia. He lived most of his life in, and produced his works under, the Seljuk Empire. Rumi's importance is considered to transcend national and ethnic borders.

I just thought this was an awesome poem and exactly what i need today. :)

House Help!

Hey guys! I need some suggestions. We're remoldeling my room and bathroom. I need some suggestions. The theme for my bathroom is ocean spa. We're thinking about putting down prego on top of my tile. Seeing if we can knock out my shower so that little corner will be kinda a sitting area and turn my bathtub into a shower/ bath. Everything in my bathroom is blue right now, sink, toilet, bathtub, floor, counter. So if anyone has any suggestions of people who could knock out a shower a good place for counter instalations good prices or anything let me know! Also i'm trying to sell the furniture in my room. It's a four piece set. White. Excellent condition. Chest of drawers, night stand, dresser with mirror, and desk with bookcase hutch. I'm asking $550. it's a great set for a young girl. so if anyone know anyone who's interested let me know. also if you have any handyman suggestions or decorating ideas let me know!

The Sun...a curse or a blessing?....

One of the reasons i love St. George is because we are lucky enough to have delightfully warm weather most of the year. Like today for example. It's perfect outside! Warm enought to run around and not get too hot but it's still warm. You can even lay out and get a nice tan without even trying but you wouldn't get all gross and sweaty. (if you don't believe me just come check out my sunburn from helping pass out fliers the last two days at DSC for elections) Honestly, what could be better. I get my recommended amout of Vit. D each day a nice tan and the sun just makes me happy. It's kind of like a teaser for what summers gonna be like. Perfect outside just hanging with your friends. eating ice cream or orange peel. no worries. getting tan. talking about boys. ahh bliss. the only problem with the sun is when it does that to me in the middle of spring semester....so i haven't gone to math for a whole week....and i've missed a test.... and i'm way behind...but the biggest problem is.....i don't care! cause the sun is out and i'm happy. except when i'm stuck inside at work like at the current moment watching all the free people outside enjoy the sunshine.... :( the worst part about it is it's only going to last like a week or so and then i'm going to sink back into my shivering cold winters blues and freak out about how much school i've missed..... but right now i'm content knowing the next couples days i'm going to be getting a nice tan... i love the sun. it's a blessing cause it makes my skin pretty :) and reminds me of fun times. it's a curse becuase now i'm failing math....but really, when am i ever gonna use that stuff anyway......right?

Things I've Learned by Maya Angelou

I don't remeber where i found this but it's really good. So just thought i'd share. :)

"I've learned that no matter what happens, of how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tommorrow."

"I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights."

"I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life."

"I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as 'making a life'."

"I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance."

"I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw some things back."

"I've learned that whenever I decide something with and open heart, I usually make the right decision."

"I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one."

"I've learned that everyday you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back."

"I've learned that I still have a lot to learn."

My dear st. george, how I love thee???

Just another day in good ol' st. George. Everyone is marriage happy. Good old Gabe a.k.a "unicorn girl" got married in Vegas this weekend to some girl from Idaho he met on myspace. Honestly, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. The new girl at work i was training probably thinks i have turret's or something. Cause i cracked up every time i thought of it. When i first found out though...oh my well let's just say i'm glad there were no customers. I jumped up and down first and then was laughing so hard i couldn't stand up straight. You would have to know the history between me and this boy to know why it amuses me so. Its currently 1:24 in the morning. and apparently i can't sleep. So last night we had a big date dinner at my house with me and brandon and jeremy, justin, shaun, and the twins cousin travis. We made to MOST DELICIOUS homemade alfredo sauce that's an original shaun recipie. It was AMAZING. totally kicks olive garden's trash!! The rest of the menu consisted of fresh ceasar salad with sundried tomato dressing, garlic bread broiled with a herb butter made by moi, and decidate homemade chocolate mousse. also made by moi. My taste buds were on overdrive (and i gained three pounds...in one day...from one meal....how does that happen??!!) Next me and shaun are making carmalized strawberries with mini chocolate souffles.. jealous? you should be ;)

They're Alive!!!

I finally got word from the other m's!! oh happy day. They're doing pretty good. Mag's only gotten stuck in one metro door and gotten lost once. So I think that's a pretty dang good start. They sound like they're having a really good time. I guess it's in the thirties there right now too so it's not even that cold. Lucky them. Well i'm content for now knowing they didn't die or freeze or something. I'm just trying to figure out my life. Even though i miss them a ton it's giving me some free time to figure stuff out. What i really want to do with my life, where i need to be going to school. To move away from St. George or not. Stuff like that. So it's hard and I miss them but it's only five months and I think it's gonna fly by!

Still Alone

It's been two days....ok it's technically only been one. but it feels like longer!! still haven't heard from my fellow m's..... maybe they froze into human Popsicles when they got out of the airport... :( sadness....well actually, a frozen maggie would be a little bit quieter than normal maggie. hmm... there's possibilities there! Jk maggie i would never freeze you.

All Alone.....again

So Mag and Miki are on a plane to Russia right now...and where am I? Sitting at home of course. Writing this blog because I have nothing else to do. What's so appealing about Russia anyway? It's cold, really cold, freezing actually. They're probably going to get frostbite. They only get showers twice a week....Russians probably don't smell very good... No one will be able to understand them....It's freezing..... probably yucky food....um, most importantly I'M not there...it's freezing.... and teaching a whole classroom packed with little kids who don't understand a word you're saying and you can't understand them just doesn't sound like very much fun. But that's just me. Oh and did I metion it's REALLY cold over there too? Yep, so while they're over there freezing I'm gonna be stuck in St. George....taking twelve credits, having no job, and that's about it. But at least i'll be warm! Thank goodness for Brandon, Shaun, and Jeremy. My only friends in the wonderful land we call America....sniffle sniffle. Well time to get on with my boring life.....by myself....again......
